New year, new to the LGB&Co team

We are very pleased to confirm the arrival of Ruby Blackwood as our Assistant Relationship Manager, and we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce her.

From a first class degree to a fast-paced start-up

Having graduated from Durham University in 2023 with a first-class honours degree in History, Ruby embarked on a six-month internship at the fast-paced, consumer start-up, FHIRST. During her internship she worked closely with the company co-founders on revenue growth, brand development, customer retention, and building relationships with consumers and retailers.

She says of her time there:

“I am most proud of the project I led to transform customer retention by 146%, involving collaborating with external growth consultants and initiating a new email marketing strategy.”

Joining the LGB team

Ruby joins the LGB team with enthusiasm for engaging with clients and getting fully immersed in the business.

She says:

“LGB really stands out regarding client communication, placing it at the forefront of investment, keeping channels open between the investors and the management teams of our MTN issuers, and that really appealed to me.”

She continues:

“What ultimately made me want to join LGB was meeting the people. Not only did they all immediately put me at ease and welcome me into the company, but they are also incredibly knowledgeable and experienced in the field. Working alongside such an incredible team is a privilege.”

A valuable asset

Ruby has already made herself a valuable asset to the team. Working within the investment team, her primary role is supporting Managing Director Simone Westerhuis, and Relationship Manager Megan Dempster with the day-to-day investing activities of LGB’s clients. That includes helping to manage the LGB investment platform, marketing deals to investors, managing order books of new issues, and building relationships. At the same time, she will pursue her CISI Investment Advice Diploma, which she aims to begin in the summer of 2025.
